What I Wore 03.09.10

Hello! It's spring!

I have a camera tripod now, so I thought I would try out some different outfit post locations. Please ignore my goofy expressions, I was a bit embarrassed to be outside taking photos for once! Luckily I don't think any of my neighbours were home. But you know.

The Bonsai Dress from Modcloth
H&M scarf, a gift from Renee
Cotton On leggings & cardigan
Mimi Loves Jimi brogues
Sportsgirl earrings, part of my 21st present from my friends
Gold ring from Evolve gift shop

Sorry, it is not the most interesting of outfits. But, it has served its purpose for the day. Namely, trying to do assignments (and instead getting distracted by Friends), and later on I'll be catching the train down to Bunbury to spend Father's Day there.

Have an excellent weekend!

What I Wore 30.08.10

Hello! This is what I wore to my birthday dinner. 21 tomorrow, yay! I went to the Left Bank Restaurant with my family and it was quite delicious. It was so hard to find somewhere that was open on a Monday (the only day my family could come up) but I really enjoyed this place.

I wore my amazing Willow skirt that I bought during the closing sale of the boutique I used to work at. It is a really intense gold in real life, and leaves little gold specks everywhere!

Living Doll bodysuit from David Jones
Willow skirt
Black tights
Siren wedges
Gold ring from Evolve gift shop

ALL of the photos turned out pretty blurry. Sorry! Here is one of me and my sister. I have really horrible posture in this picture. Or maybe I just have a food baby.

I'm not one hundred per cent sure what exactly she wore, but I'm pretty sure it's a vintage cropped sweater, a dress from Supre (actually, one of MY old dresses from Supre), and heels that she originally bought for dancing.

Time for me to snooze and enjoy my last half an hour of being twenty!

What I Wore 03.08.10

I always get unreasonably excited around the start of August because it is MY BIRTHDAY MONTH (that's right, I count the whole month as being primarily Tara-based). However, today I went to my Print Production tutorial and am basically quietly wetting my pants because it sounds SO HARD AND TRICKY. We have to produce a newspaper and do layouts and InDesign and all this fancy shiz and it kind of makes me want to crawl back into bed and never write another word again FOR FEAR IT IS NOT WITHIN CURTIN'S JOURNALISM STANDARDS.

Anyway. This is what I wore:

Target jacket
Pixies shirt
Sportsgirl skirt
Black tights
Black Lipstik flats
'T' Scrabble tile ring, from a vintage shop in Fremantle

Um... yes that is a Totoro lying on the floor.

It is only a super-quick post because I already have stacks of uni work. A few weeks ago I was all "Oh, I can't wait to get back to uni and start using my brain again and not be so bored". Hmph.

What I Wore 30.07.10

Hello! This is another of the vintage dresses I bought the other day. Sadly, all I have done in it is watch The Office (the UK version, my sister has never seen it), eat leftover pizza, have a nap (what? It's my uni break, I am really bored) and clean my room. I have mentioned before that I am really, really messy, so cleaning my room has been a two day affair and I am still nowhere near having it look presentable. I would have taken pictures to prove it but... I was too embarrassed. It was that bad! I am looking forward to having it all nice and organised and finally being able to decorate it.

Anyway! Enough about room-cleaning (never thought I would have to say THAT), on to the outfit...

Vintage 70's dress
Red Berry cardigan
Diva teacup & spoon necklace
Black tights
Mimi Loves Jimi brogues
Oliver Peoples glasses

I am happy because tonight I get to see someone I like very, very much. Hee!

Have a lovely weekend!

What I Wore 29.07.10

Hello hello! After having an interview this morning (keep your fingers crossed for me, it's between me and two other girls!), I met up with one of the girls I used to work with, who got a job today! Hooray! This is one of three vintage dresses I bought in Fremantle yesterday. Oops. Um, how does unemployment go again?

Needless to say, I am very much enjoying not having to wear black for 75% of my outfits. I am not sure how well-received the stockings are - whenever I wear them out I am guaranteed to get asked for I.D. So I probably DID wear this exact outfit when I was four WHAT OF IT AND HAND ME MY GIN AND TONIC PLEASE.

Dress - vintage 60's
Red tights from David Jones
Supre cardigan (from about five years ago)
Lipstik flats
OSIER owl ring

I only tried the dress on for fun, but I loved the shape of it so much (and it was on sale) so it ended up coming home with me (to the detriment of my bank account). It's a little bit big for me around the waist so I think next time I'll either wear a belt or LEARN TO SEW and take it in. But, the fabric is in such perfect condition and it's so cute! It looks kind of like chess pieces.

More vintage goodness to come tomorrow!

What I Wore 23.07.10

This is what I wore to go and get my hair cut (as you saw yesterday) and then hang around at home, packing for my trip to Bunbury (which is occuring AS YOU READ THIS! TECHNOLOGY!). All is still quiet on the job front, I am actually looking forward to going back to uni and having something to do again! I'm going to look into getting some work experience this semester, or at least by the end of the year. If you've had any experience please let me know how it all works!

Dress from Modcloth (one of the first things I ever bought online! See!)
Black tights
Cotton On cardigan
Clogs from Rubi Shoes
New hair by Lee Wallis

I will write a proper review soon but can I just say AGAIN how happy I am with my hair and especially my new hairdresser! She was so, so, so lovely. Good customer service makes me very happy. Also I am wearing almost no makeup in these pictures so apologies for looking so pale and GRIM.

What I Wore 14.07.10

This is an easy and (for me) pretty grungy outfit, that I wore to buy some shoes from Rubi Shoes (they are having a buy one, get one half price deal at the moment - score! Except not really, because they are Rubi shoes, and will probably fall apart in the first half an hour of wearing them), post a Louise & Jane piece, and go into uni. I am trying very hard to fill my days with as much stuff as possible so unemployment doesn't drive me insane. The shop officially closed last Friday (which is why there was a distinct lack of posting, sorry, it was a weird week) and so I am on the job hunt again!

As always, excuse the mess in the background...

Dress from Modcloth
Black tights
Boots from Betts (I LOVE THEM)
Skeleton earrings from Diva
Bag on floor from Sportsgirl, secondhand via Renee

An attempt to show off my dangly skeleton earrings! One of them is unfortunately missing half a leg but I think they are out of stock and, thus, irreplaceable.

What I Wore 02.07.10

Happy July!

These were taken just after my sister and I got back from a brunch date. I had some banana pancakes that were unfortunately runny as HELL in the middle. I also quickly went into the boutique I work at and was amazed at how little stock is left. It makes it seem more real that it will actually be closing at the end of next week. And I will be jobless!

I am also finally out a knee brace, I dislocated my knee earlier this week when my friend hugged me and then pushed me over a couch. AND WHO SAYS CHIVALRY IS DEAD.

I got this dress from Old Age on Etsy, and they were sweet enough to send this really awesome old postcard with it (that I didn't get a picture of before the camera ate my batteries). So, I thought I would make MY photos look a bit more authentically vintage.

The dress is beeeautiful, one of my new favourites for sure. It is very autumnal, don't you think? As I was writing that I realised that it is not, in fact, autumn here, and that Australia is in fact in its second month of winter. It has only just started to get really really cold, which is actually my favourite type of weather.

Vintage dress via Old Age
Black tights
Black flats from Lipstik
Diva ring (that I thought I LOST at the movies the other day, and spent about 15 minutes searching frantically for, only to find that it was in my bag all along)

I really love the back of the dress too!

And my sister likes taking photos at appropriately random moments. And I apparently like slouching too (sorry mum).

I hope your week has been excellent! Mine has been great (dislocated knee and imminent unemployment aside).

What I Wore 26.06.10

I wore this to our last work dinner ever, at the Witch's Cauldron in Subiaco. I was really excited about going, and it was quite a good meal, but with VERY average service (but it must be said, with quite attractive waitstaff). I felt a bit like a nanna when I saw what everyone else was wearing - it seemed it was a very "high fashion" dinner, my boss was even wearing Chanel flats and a Willow coat. Although I did buy two Willow pieces on sale this week (for 70% off!) from the shop last week, so I can't really talk. Closing down has its benefits after all!

Vintage 70's dress
Red Berry cardigan
Diva rose studs
Black tights
Zu shoes
Cotton On Body slip underneath (it is freeeezing!)

I bought this dress from the Lost & Found markets in Melbourne when I was there last year. It's a bit hard to tell in the photos but the print is white swirls with little orangey-red cherries. I absolutely love it but I very rarely get the chance to wear it! It does come with its own little matching belt as well. It makes me feel like a rad 70s housewife, and that I should be serving fondue to people in flares and afros.

I tried to get some photos where I wasn't constantly looking at the floor. I feel like a bit of a goober, though!

Hope your week is off to an excellent start!

What I Wore 25.06.10

I wore this to Toy Story 3 last night... and then again today because I am ill and couldn't put a proper outfit together. A cold which has been niggling at me for weeks has finally - BLAM - hit me in the face and rendered me whimpering on the couch.

Oh, Toy Story 3! It was brilliant and adorable and OH LOOK JUST GO SEE IT because it will warm the cockles of your heart. It almost - ALMOST - changed my not-liking-children stance.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, I am pretty drugged up on Codral and other cold & flu type things so do not have a very photogenic face or nature today!

"The Deschenal Dress" from Modcloth (I have worn the dress a lot more in between, but here is the last outfit shot where it featured!)
Cotton On cardigan
Black tights
Novo wedges
Diva owl ring

And some detail shots:

I must cut this post short as I have important plans to read Frankie, snuggled under a blanket, and drink lots of honey and lemon tea. Be gone, cold!

What I Wore 16.06.10

Hello! Today I battled a head cold to go and hand in my resume to Dangerfield. Please please PLEASE cross your fingers and toes and eyes for me! I only have about two weeks left at my current job so think it is kind of maybe a good idea to start looking for other jobs. In other news, I am writing this on my new MACBOOK PRO, OH YES (I am so in love with it),  and I have forced my sister, her boyfriend and my friend to watch Rock of Love and while they were (understandably) skeptical and resisted at first, they have ALL become obsessed. Mwahaha. No one can resist Bret Michaels and his "Wassa-goin-ons". I think it may be my favourite trashy reality television series of all time.

Modcloth Lookout, Cookout Dress (bought ages ago when it was on sale so I don't think there are any left, sorry!)
Dangerfield tattoo tights
Red Berry cardigan (stolen from Emily)
Isabella Brown shoes
Osier pistol brooch

I actually went out sans tights but that was way too optimistic a move. It is starting to get really cold in Perth. My sister freaked out when I came out with these tights because she thought that a) I had gouged my leg and then b) that I had gotten a whole leg tattoo - on both legs - in the four or so hours that I was out. I think all the exam stress is starting to get to her head.

Lady faces on my legs!

I hope your week is going swimmingly! And if you have exams I hope that you ace them all and then go and celebrate accordingly!

What I Wore 07.06.10

Today was a public holiday, so of course I was uber-productive and did all the things I have been meaning to do. LIES! I watched Project Runway Australia for a while (I figured out how to download TV shows so... goodbye, any semblance of a social life), had unexpected but not undelightful guests drop in, and am now back to lying in bed. And still, it has been a good day.

I wore this dress to Sex and the City 2 because, in my mind, it is the ultimate girly dress. Floral. Big. Shapeless. Most guys I know hate it (if it's not belted). I adore it. It is deliciously easy to lie around in without looking like a complete bogan. To be honest I haven't actually left the house today but I put on my new boots for the pictures. They were only fifty bucks! I love them. This year I actually bought winter clothes, as opposed to my usual method of just layering summer clothes over each other until I am actually warm, and boots in many many sizes and colours are next on my list.

The Clothes Horse dress from Modcloth
Cotton On leggings
Isabella Brown boots
Bracelets from Eshe (in Bunbury)

A very casual look for a criminally lazy day.

I hope yours was swell too!

What I Wore 03.06.10

This is the first outfit post I've done in... about a month? I have had a pretty bad run of luck in May. I broke up with my boyfriend of almost three years, I lost my job because the boutique I work for is closing for good, and my nan passed away on Monday night. I don't mean to bring you all down with details of my life, but hopefully that explains why it has been a bit quiet on the blog lately.

So, this is what I am wearing to go and eat chocolate chip cookies in a fort. Sometimes that is all you need to cheer yourself up (I'm hoping).

Ben Sherman shirt
Black tights
Miss Shop booties from Myer
"Tara" necklace from My Name Necklace
Bow ring from Diva

So apologies for the lack of posts, hopefully this month will be better!

(Oh, and you might notice a pile of mini footballs to the left of the picture. My sister took them home after she went to see The Room at the Luna Cinemas, I'm not entirely sure why they had so many to give away but I'm sure they'll come in handy one day... perhaps...)

x

ALSO! You may have noticed I have moved my shop to Etsy now. You can click on the link in the sidebar (with all the pretty pictures of dresses!) OR you can click here to go straight to Louise & Jane!

What I Wore 26.04.10

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, it was my little sister's birthday on Monday, and so Monday night I took her out to dinner at the Como Hotel. I was actually pleasantly surprised, it was quite a bit better than the standard pub fare. I had shitake mushroom and three cheese ravioli, YUM.

The Clothes Horse dress from Modcloth
Valleygirl belt, from another dress
Diva lion ring
Black tights
Lipstik flats (I live in these, but need some of better quality, these are thrashed!)

I love this ring!

And while on the lion theme, this was too cool not to share (I put it on my tumblr early tonight). This is the filming of the Metro-Golden-Mayer lion!

Now I am relaxing with season 1 of America's Next Top Model and Facebook chat to keep me company. Have a good day!

What I Wore 23.04.10

Hello! This has been an insane week. I was so stressed out for most of it (it's production week for the uni newspaper, and two of my units relate to that so a heap of assignments were due) and have had the oddest sleeping pattern, so I feel disorientated and grumpy most of the time. However, yesterday the photo editors of the uni paper asked me to take some photos at the Charles Hotel Comedy Lounge, which was definitely a perk! It was hilarious and I'll definitely be going back (but I doubt I will be treated as nicely as I was when lugging around a huge SLR camera!). And I found out today that one of the photos made it into the paper, so yay!

I didn't get to see Date Night earlier this week, so I'm off to see it tonight. This is what I wore. The photos are really blurry for some reason.

Revival dress
Black Friday cardigan
Black tights
Lipstik flats
Diva bowling pin earrings

My week has definitely improved so fingers crossed the weekend is good too, a long weekend is very welcome!

x

p.s In my opinion, the best two comedians last night were Michael Burke and Ben Russell. And another guy! But I can't remember his name! Or be bothered to go and check my ultra-organised journalist checklist which is names scribbled on the back of a poster in black texta! Anyway check them out if you have the chance. Although I think that was Ben Russell's last show before he goes to Chicago. So... good if you're in Chicago, not so much if you're in Perth....

What I Wore 21.04.10

Hello! This is my new dress from pineapple mint on Etsy. I love it! It's a little big so I can't wear it without a belt, but the print is amazing. It reminds me of little owls and is so insanely comfortable, as comfortable as wearing a snuggie maybe. I never wear red and in the past few months I have acquired about three red dresses. Why? I'm sure there is some symbolism but, eh.

I did need some comfort because I had a pretty bad morning at uni. So I went to Garden City and found possibly the most cheer-inducing shoes in existence. They will get their own post later on!

Vintage dress via pineapple mint on Etsy
Belt from Jeanswest
Owl ring from Osier
Isabella Brown shoes
...and new clothes rack for all my Louise & James stock, bought for $8 at the Melville markets!

Close up of Osier ring

Owly print! (Kind of...)

Tonight I'm going to see Date Night. I love Tina Fey and Steve Carrell so I really, really want it to be good but my expectations aren't very high. Has anyone seen it?

Bye for now!
